Chalmette, La. —U.S. House of Representatives Majority Whip and Louisiana First District Congressman Steve Scalise met with St. Bernard Parish President Guy McInnis to discuss a variety of federal issues affecting the area.

McInnis said the two have been working together to keep flood insurance premiums from skyrocketing, as well as requesting additional federal assistance to rebuild the wetlands and start closing out recovery projects across St. Bernard.

McInnis also got an update from Scalise on the effects of the tumbling price of oil on the state's economy and the possibility of the federal government ending off-shore oil revenue sharing with petroleum producing states.

It was the second time they met since McInnis took office in January.
