Louisiana Congressman Steve Scalise and St. Tammany Parish President Pat Brister issued statements Sunday on the widespread flooding affecting many on the North Shore.

The following is a statement from Congressman Scalise on flooding in both St. Tammany and Tangipahoa Parishes:

"My staff and I remain in close coordination with state and local emergency officials as we help respond to the record flooding in St. Tammany and Tangipahoa parishes," Rep. Scalise said. "We are in contact with FEMA and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and they are prepared to help our local leaders, who have been working tirelessly, to respond to this disaster. I have also met with St. Tammany Parish President Pat Brister, and have been in touch with Tangipahoa Parish President Robby Miller to offer any federal help they need. The people of southeast Louisiana are strong and resilient, and we will recover from this disaster."
